This is a hands-on Contract Manager (consultant) role where you’ll work at the centre of Council, contractor, and consulting teams to deliver real infrastructure outcomes across the district.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage contractor performance, programmes, and budgets alongside our Engineer to Contract.
  • Build strong relationships with Council, contractors, and partners.
  • Oversee procurement, contract administration, and reporting.
  • Maintain a regular on-site presence to keep delivery on track.
  • Administer contracts including procurement, performance monitoring, and payment processes.

ABOUT YOU

  • 5–10+ years in infrastructure delivery, contract management, or project/programme management.

  • Capability in Road Asset Maintenance and Management is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with NZTA/Waka Kotahi processes or similar frameworks desirable.
  • Confident managing budgets, contracts, and delivery outcomes.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong stakeholder skills.

LOCATION / WORKING ARRANGEMENT

  • Regular presence in the Taumarunui office is required.
  • Based in or able to regularly travel to Taumarunui (Short term / mid-week accommodation available at office).
  • Flexible arrangement (e.g. structured on-site days) to suit the right candidate.
